AC DC tickets In 1982 while recording "Flick Of The Switch" Rudd left and with new replacement Simon Wright AC DC recorded "Fly On The Wall" (1985), "Who Made Who" (1986) and "Blow Up Your Video" (1988). As by the mid-80's the music stage was dominated by the new wave of heavy metal bands lead by Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, Metallica and Van Halen, AC/DC's powerful machine begun to decline. In 1988 Wright was replaced by Chris Slade who in turn only participated in 1990's "Razor Edge", the big comeback the group was looking for. By 1994 Slade was gone and Phil Rudd returned. With the reformation of the classic 1980-1983 lineup, AC DC recorded "Ballbreaker" in 1995 and "Stiff Upper Lip" in 2000.

Anchored by one of rock's most rhythmic duos - brothers Angus and Malcolm - and buoyed by the infamous throaty drawl of singer Brian Johnson, Stiff Upper Lip not only serves up the kind of carnal shards that fans have come to expect, (it's their first studio album in five years) but also tips its hat to the blues-rock-roots of AC/DC and brother/producer George Young - who returns to the work the boards for the first time since 1978's classic Powerage. "Malcolm and I were sitting around going over possible producers one day," recalls Angus. "We started talking about records and stuff and the idea of using George again just snapped into our heads at the same time. Obviously AC DC knows what AC/DC is all about. For us there has always been that subtle blues element in what we do. All good rock has that foundation of the blues in it somewhere."
Wisely sticking to its time-tested formula of no-frills riffing, AC DC followed the record's release with extensive touring, during which Angus Young wore, as always, a schoolboy uniform. (That outfit has become such a part of rock legend that it was included in Rock Style, an exhibit at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, which opened in 1999.) Always a reliable live act, AC/DC once more bought out the big guns - literally, since AC DC's stage act included cannons that went off during "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)." Rumors swirl of a new album titled Strap It On due in 2009, with exclusive distribution via Wal-Mart.
No wonder. George Young has produced some of AC/DC's most classic albums, including their 1974 debut High Voltage, 1977's Let There Be Rock, 1978's If You Want Blood (You Got It), and Powerage. Says Brian: "I think the album has a wonderful feel - almost pre-Back In Black (produced by Mutt Lange) - which was the AC/DC era where George's hand was felt the most. He really makes recording exciting. He makes it feel like everyone is contributing their best all of the time."
