TV Week is reporting that on July 31, The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) will honor “American Idol’s” fundraiser, “Idol Gives Back” with its inaugural Reality Innovator Award at the NATPE LATV Festival in Los Angeles. The Reality Innovator Award recognizes outstanding achievement in reality programming, with recipients displaying passion, leadership and innovation. Nigel Lythgoe, president of 19 Television and executive producer of "American Idol" will accept the award on behalf of all the show’s producers at a ceremony at The Annex in Hollywood & Highland’s Entertainment Complex. “’Idol Gives Back’ is an extraordinary example of the ability of television to combine the power of celebrities and the corporate community in raising awareness and money for social enterprise,” NATPE President and CEO Rick Feldman said when making the announcement. The reigning CMA Male and Female Vocalists of the Year, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will unite to host “The 42nd Annual CMA Awards” on Wednesday, November 12th.  This is the first time that either artist will have hosted “Country Music’s Biggest Night™.” “We are excited to have our reigning Male and Female Vocalist host the CMA Awards this year,” said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “In addition to their musical talent, Brad’s quick wit and Carrie’s gracefulness will serve them well in this role. CMA is happy to offer both of them their first opportunity to host a nationally televised awards show. ” In addition to their hosting duties, Brad and Carrie will also perform on “The CMA Awards.” “I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to host the awards show,” says Brad Paisley.  “We’re going to have a good time – start to finish.” “I am so excited to host a show I grew up watching, and am so thrilled to spend this night with the fans and Brad,” says Carrie. “It’s going to be a party!” Carrie toured with Brad in 2006, and the two became fast friends. The artists, who are both members of the Grand Ole Opry, reunited last year to record the duet “Oh Love” for Paisley’s most recent album, 5th Gear. Carrie received two CMA nominations in 2008, including Female Vocalist and Album of the Year for her second album, Carnival Ride, produced by Mark Bright and featuring four songs co-written by the artist. This was her first nomination in the Album category. She has received nine career nominations since her first in 2006, and has won a total of four CMA Awards. In addition to her two wins as Female Vocalist (2006 and 2007), she also received the Horizon Award in 2006 and Single of the Year for “Before He Cheats” in 2007. On top of her exciting hosting duties, Carrie is currently headlining her “Carnival Ride Tour,” scheduled to hit 51 cities this fall. Constantine Maroulis' American Idol legacy will always be his chilling rendition of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," for which he received high praise, even from the ornery Simon Cowell! Since he appeared on season four, Constantine has been making quite a name for himself in entertainment. He has been particularly successful in theater. In August of 2006, he secured a role in the Broadway musical, "The Wedding Singer," as Sammy. Not long after, he took part in the Off-Broadway musical revue, "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris." Most recently, Constantine landed the lead role in "Rock Of Ages," which is set to preview at Off-Broadway's New World Stages on September 30, with the production officially opening on October 16. Much like "The Wedding Singer," Rock is set in the '80s, so the play will include a lot of music from that era. Constantine is also no stranger to the world of television, as he landed a part on the drama, "The Bold and the Beautiful." He played a nearly non-fictional role as Constantine Parros, a singer and record producer, for thirteen weeks. In addition, he joined the cast of FOX Reality Channel's "American Idol Extra" this past season alongside fellow AI rocker alum, Gina Glocksen. Constantine's true love remains music, however, and he released his debut album under his own label in August of '07. The self-titled CD debuted at #75 on the Billboard charts. He used this momentum for his solo tour, and ended up playing to sold-out venues in cities like Boston, Philadelphia, Annapolis, and New York. Happy Birthday, Constantine!
