The Calgary Flames are a Calgary, Alberta, Canada Nation Hockey League team that play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. The Flames were established in 1972 and play alongside fellow Alberta team the Edmonton Oilers. The two teams have a heated past and rivalry known to many as the Battle of Alberta. Although the team was originally founded in Atlanta, Georgia and started out in the NHL as the Atlanta Flames, the team was relocated in Alberta in 1980. The Flames originally played their first few seasons in Canada at the Stampede Corral. In 1983 The Flames moved into their current home at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Over the years the Flames have won the Stanley Cup in 1989, 3 Conference Championships, 2 Presidents' Trophies and 5 Division Championships. Oh and not to mention Harvey the Hound that the Flames introduced in 1983 and was the NHL's first team mascot.
