The Betfair Chase is a Grade 1 National Hunt horse race in the United Betfair Chase tickets Kingdom for five-year-old and above horses. It is run over a distance of 3 miles (4,828 metres) at Haydock Betfair Chase tickets Park Racecourse in November. There are eighteen fences to be jumped in the race. The race was introduced in 2005, and with prizemoney totalling £200,000 for Betfair Chase tickets the 2006 race, it soon became the fourth most valuable chase of the season, behind the Grand National, Cheltenham Betfair Chase tickets Gold Cup and Queen Mother Champion Chase, and equal with the King George VI Chase. Sponsored by the online betting company Betfair, it is the first race in the Betfair Chase tickets Betfair Million series, the format of which was changed ahead of the 2008/09 season. A bonus prize of £1,000,000 can be won Betfair Chase tickets by any horse finishing in the first three in the Betfair Chase, who later in the season finishes first or Betfair Chase tickets second in any race at the Cheltenham Festival and subsequently wins the Grand National. Prior to this change of format the Betfair Million was Betfair Chase tickets awarded to any horse who followed victory in the Betfair Chase with a win in either the King George VI Chase Betfair Chase tickets at Kempton or the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown, and then won the Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Kauto Star won the bonus in 2006/07 by winning the King George Betfair Chase tickets and Gold Cup as well as the Betfair Chase.
