True Hollywood Story segment, Kathy Griffin stated that Kathy Griffin often went to see shows at the Groundlings before Kathy Griffin joined. She said one time Kathy Griffin was there Kathy Griffin went backstage and talked with a Groundling member (Phil Hartman) and asked him what The Groundlings were all about. This led to Kathy Griffin's taking classes there and eventually being asked into the Main Company.
