Madison Square Garden is like playing in the Super Bowl- its still just a show. You go out and do your thing; give it your best shot, execute what you’ve practiced and hit it. But at MSG every move and song is heightened. You are soaking up every moment but constantly aware that you are in “the world’s most famous arena”. Its a place that for many fields is a pinnacle and in the music business it is viewed by many as the coolest place to play. Playing there, I think of the location- right in the heart of Manhattan, close to “Broadway”… I lived in NYC for ten years and walked by so many many times, been there a bunch- during basketball games the court is illuminated in such an inimitable way there…such theater. And of course, I had performed there with the “Kids” before and at 16 I knew it was special. And maybe for the first time, the younger me enjoyed it more cuz I wasn’t thinking so much then. Don’t get me wrong, I had a blast and now I have another photo album of memories in my heart. But I left that night wanting more- like it was half-time instead of the end of the game. Walking down the back stage hallway, lined with photos with so much history, so many great artists. Such a privilege, I’d be a fool to wish for another. But then again…. I also wanted to thank all the people who showed up at The Mall of America performance on August 8th. Once again it is a day I will never forget. One of the many days in this journey that continue to surprise me and leave me in shock. We started the day flying on a private jet, a Citation X, which is the fasted non-military jet in the world. This was more than special for me because my company, Halcyon Jets, provided the plane. It was such an amazing ride, and lots of laughs on the plane. Gary Arnold from Best Buy was there to greet us when we got to the mall. We would like to thank Gary for making the whole event possible and so special. All the people we met before we hit the stage were great. Then we performed and the crowd was awesome. You guys continue to amaze me. Your support means everything. We got to do “Single” which we are all excited about. Then we got to meet some of you, which was the best part of the event. Everyone keeps thanking us, but honestly, you deserve the thanks. Without the fans none of this is possible. Then we got back on the jet to L.A., more rehearsing for tour preparation. What an amazing time. The new memories keep growing. Until next time………. The show went off without a hitch, in the rain again. The slippery stage was almost irrelevant and the crowd reaction was awesome. The fan support has been so unbelievable and I am so grateful. At every turn on this ride, new and amazing things are happening. Most of all, the fun we are having is beyond anything I anticipated. Every aspect of what we are doing this time is better. Now the real work begins. Time to go into lock down tour rehearsals. We are determined to put together a great show. I am. Looking forward to the challenge.
