Milwaukee Brewers center fielder Mike Cameron feels his eyes burning with rage as he recounts the incidents. Yet even as the hateful words assault his pride and dignity, Cameron has a confession.
"You know what? I'm sure going to miss hearing that stuff," he says. "I'd give anything to hear that in April. And I know you can't hear any of that sitting at home watching the games on TV.
"It's going to kill me."
Cameron, 35, is one of three players who have been suspended by Major League Baseball for violating its drug policy and will miss the opening of the season but can play in spring-training games.
Cameron, who says he tested positive last July and September for amphetamine use, will miss the first 25 games. Kansas City Royals right fielder Jose Guillen, 31, who allegedly bought steroids and human growth hormone (HGH), is suspended for the first 15 days.
