  Al Hirschfeld Theater TicketsThe Al Hirschfeld Theatre is a Broadway theatre at 302 W. 45th Street in Manhattan. Designed by architect G. Albert Lansburgh, the theatre was originally opened by vaudeville promoter Martin Beck as the Martin Beck Theatre on November 11, 1924, with a production of Madam Pompadour. It was the only theater in New York that was owned outright without a mortgage. It was designed to be the most opulent theatre of its time, and has dressing rooms for 200 actors. It premiered The Apple Cart by George Bernard Shaw, The Teahouse of the August Moon by John Patrick and Winterset and High Tor by Maxwell Anderson. The theatre was sold to the Jujamcyn Amusement Corporation in 1968. On June 21, 2003 it was renamed the Al Hirschfeld theatre in honor of the caricaturist famous for his drawings of Broadway celebrities, and reopened on November 23, 2003 with a revival of the musical Wonderful Town. The current show playing the theatre is a musical version of the 1998 New Line Cinema film (starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore) The Wedding Singer. The Tony Award nominated musical began its preview run on March 30, 2006 and opened on April 27. The show stars actor and comedic singer-songwriter Stephen Lynch as Robbie Hart and two-time Tony Award nominated actress Laura Benanti as Julia Sullivan. It has received five Tony nominations: Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical for Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, Best Choreography for Rob Ashford, Best Original Score for Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin and Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Stephen Lynch It's next show will be Curtains, which will begin previews on February 27, 2007
