From May through Labor Day, Central Park offers a rich assortment of concerts and musical events. All summer, the Central Park Conservancy hosts a number of free events including the Harlem Meer Performance Festival Presented by JPMorgan Chase with additional funding by the National Endowment for the Arts and by the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency, and Dancing on the Plaza.
The Great Lawn will be the pastoral setting for free performances by the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera, Rumsey Playfield will be the venue for SummerStage and the New York Grand Opera, and at the Naumburg Bandshell you can enjoy classical music concerts.

The Central Park Conservancy and Museum for African Art invite you to include craft-making in Central Park as part of your Kwanzaa celebrations this year. Join us to make Kwanzaa greeting cards and beeswax candles for yourself or for a friend or loved one. Activities will continue throughout the afternoon and are recommended for children ages 7 and up.
Whether attending a free event in Central Park (such as the Harlem Meer Performance Festival shown on the right) or a fundraiser to help support the Park, everyone has a blast. Couldn't be there? No problem. Just click on the event links below (more pictures to be added, so check back regularly) and catch a glimpse of the fun.
One of the most romantic and popular ways to see Central Park is from a horse-drawn carriage. Visitors enjoy this year-round, even during the winter months. The carriages can be found lined up along Central Park South (59th Street) between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, at the southern end of Central Park across from the Plaza Hotel, from early morning until midnight.
