The History of the Womens National Basketball Association
The WNBA was founded on April 24, 1996 as a female counterpart of the widely popular National Basketball Association. When the league first started there were only eight teams but since then the WNBA has grown to twelve teams which can be seen below. During the regular season each team plays 34 times until eventually the two best teams play for the title.
